Lineone Net Email Problems

Hi Paul, & a warm welcome! 🙂

In the summer I set up my primary email to be my the My BT login email, replacing the original lineone.net email I had used. However, the first time I tried to login after Halo was announced, could be coincidental?, it didn't work and my login reverted to my previous lineone.net email. Problem is intermittent but clearly tied to avast - I can access & download email headers, etc, from my lineone mailbox from non-avast protected clients. My avast protected mail client works fine with my SSL accessed mailboxes. Place with IMAP, SMTP, POP3 server settings for LINEONE.NET which will allow you to setup any email client to access your messages. Re: Lineone email problems. If the login fail has only just happened today then it's likely that the email system may have detected a weak password or a compromised email account and changed the password or locked the account to help secure customer data. ORIGINAL STORY: TalkTalk is an internet and email provider that is harnessed across the UK. However, this morning the service has been experiencing problems with its email arm, with a swathe of.

Can you login with your credentials in a Browser using the same info?

In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the exact message?

Then click the Show Details button & Check again.

The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...

This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.

If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.

The receiving email ports are:

IMAP is port 143

IMAP-SSL is port 993

POP is port 110

POP-SSL is port 995

Outgoing ports are...

SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

There's been a cascade of problems. First, Thunderbird (file version 45.4.0.6115) suddenly prohibited me from sending email, though I can receive mail. As shown in the attached image, it says '5.7.1 From address not allowed'. I don't know if I once tried to send something contaminated and now Thunderbird has marked my account as blackballed, or what. In any case, I can't send mail.

While trying to fix this, we inadvertently added an account, the same as my old account but spelled with different capitalization. Now I have two accounts, one that has all my old mail and such, and one that has the inbox where all new mail arrives. It won't allow me to delete accounts, and I don't see how to merge them or get back to how it used to be.

I wonder if I should uninstall Thunderbird and install a new copy? Would that lose all my old emails and my address book? (Bad!) Or would it somehow retain the problems that my present copy has? (Also Bad!) I tried using Restore to go back to how it was last week before this all started, but that had no visible effect. I did this using the Windows 7 Restore that Windows 10 gives me.
